The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association proudly presents a thrilling new addition to the Southeastern Circuit calendar
When the dust settles and the spring sun begins to warm the Georgia soil, rodeo fans across the Southeast will have something special to mark on their calendars. The Berrien County Roundup Breakaway is saddling up for its inaugural run on March 14-15, 2025, at the Berrien County Saddle Club in Nashville, Georgia.
This fresh addition to the PRCA Southeastern Circuit promises to spotlight one of rodeo's fastest-growing events – breakaway roping – while delivering the full-throttle rodeo experience that fans have come to expect from PRCA-sanctioned events. With $1,000 in prize money on the line, competitors will be bringing their A-game to this South Georgia showdown.
The Berrien County Roundup isn't just another stop on the circuit – it's a celebration of rodeo culture in a region where western heritage runs deep. Nashville, Georgia, might not be as famous as its Tennessee namesake, but for these two days in March, it will become the epicenter of rodeo action in the Southeast.
"This event represents what rodeo is all about – bringing communities together while showcasing incredible athletic talent," says one of the event organizers. "We're particularly excited to highlight breakaway roping, which has seen tremendous growth in recent years and offers an opportunity to showcase the incredible female talent in our sport."
The Berrien County Saddle Club, with its rich history of equestrian events, provides the perfect backdrop for this newest PRCA competition. Its intimate setting ensures every seat offers an up-close view of the action, allowing spectators to feel the thunder of hooves and hear the snap of the rope as competitors chase down precious seconds on the clock.
While the Berrien County Roundup will feature several rodeo disciplines, breakaway roping takes center stage at this event. For the uninitiated, breakaway roping is one of rodeo's most exciting timed events. A female competitor on horseback pursues a calf released from a chute, throws a loop around its neck, and then stops her horse. The rope, tied to the saddle horn with string, breaks away when the calf reaches the end of the rope – hence the name "breakaway."
The clock stops when the rope breaks, making this one of the fastest events in rodeo. Top competitors can complete a run in under two seconds, requiring lightning-fast reflexes, precise roping skills, and perfect coordination between horse and rider.
"Breakaway roping has always been exciting, but now that it's gaining more recognition at the professional level, we're seeing incredible talent emerge," explains a circuit veteran. "The Berrien County Roundup gives these athletes another opportunity to qualify for circuit finals and showcase their skills."
Spectators can expect to see competitors from across the Southeastern Circuit vying for points and prize money. While the competitor list is still being finalized, rumors suggest several circuit champions and national contenders will be making their way to Nashville for this inaugural event.
The Berrien County Roundup Breakaway isn't just about the competition – it's a full weekend of western entertainment designed for the whole family.
Attendees can expect a festive atmosphere with food vendors serving up everything from classic barbecue to funnel cakes and other fair favorites. Merchandise vendors will offer western wear, handcrafted leather goods, custom jewelry, and rodeo memorabilia – perfect for finding that authentic piece of rodeo culture to take home.
For the youngest rodeo fans, special activities are being planned including a stick horse race, western-themed face painting, and the always-popular calf scramble for different age groups. The rodeo clown won't just be providing safety for competitors – he'll be delivering laughs and entertainment between events to keep the energy high.
Live music will fill the air before the rodeo and during intermission, featuring local country and western artists who know how to get a crowd stomping their boots. While the performance lineup is still being finalized, organizers promise authentic southern sounds that complement the rodeo experience.
The Berrien County Saddle Club has long been a gathering place for equestrian enthusiasts in South Georgia. Located in Nashville, Georgia, the venue features covered seating for spectators, ensuring the show goes on rain or shine.
Parking will be available on-site, with designated areas for standard vehicles, oversized trucks, and trailers. Attendees with accessibility needs will find designated parking areas closest to the entrance, and the venue is equipped with accessible seating and restroom facilities.
First aid stations will be positioned strategically throughout the grounds, and professional security personnel will be on hand to ensure a safe, enjoyable experience for all attendees.
Tickets for the Berrien County Roundup Breakaway will go on sale approximately two months before the event, around January 14, 2025. Rodeo enthusiasts are encouraged to mark their calendars and purchase tickets early, as the intimate venue setting means seats will be limited for this inaugural event.
Several ticket options will be available, including general admission, premium seating closer to the action, and family packages that make bringing the whole crew more affordable. Special rates will be offered for military personnel, seniors, and children, making this an accessible event for the entire community.
Tickets will be available for purchase directly through this website when they go on sale. For those who prefer the traditional approach, tickets will also be available at the gate on event days, though advance purchase is recommended to guarantee entry.
For groups planning to attend together, special group rates will be available for parties of ten or more, making the Berrien County Roundup Breakaway an ideal outing for church groups, school organizations, or corporate team-building events.
The Berrien County Roundup Breakaway represents more than just two days of rodeo action – it's an investment in the local community. Rodeo events typically generate significant economic impact for host communities, with visitors filling local hotels, dining at area restaurants, and shopping at nearby businesses.
The organizers have partnered with several local businesses to ensure the economic benefits extend throughout Berrien County. Local food vendors will be given priority for concession spaces, and area craftspeople will have opportunities to showcase their wares to rodeo attendees.
Additionally, a portion of the proceeds from the event will be directed toward local youth agricultural programs, helping to ensure the next generation of rodeo competitors and agricultural professionals have the support they need to succeed.
"We see this as more than just a rodeo," says a member of the organizing committee. "It's about creating something that benefits the entire community while celebrating our western heritage and providing world-class entertainment."
As the newest addition to the PRCA Southeastern Circuit, the Berrien County Roundup Breakaway aims to establish itself as a must-attend event on the rodeo calendar. With its focus on breakaway roping, family-friendly atmosphere, and commitment to community, this inaugural event has all the ingredients to become a beloved tradition.
For competitors, it represents another opportunity to earn crucial points toward circuit finals and showcase their talents. For spectators, it's a chance to witness world-class rodeo action in an intimate setting while enjoying the hospitality that South Georgia is famous for.
When the chutes open on March 14, 2025, a new chapter in Southeastern rodeo history will begin. The only question is: will you be there to witness it?
